Amphotecerin B:

Amphotericin B is an AntiFungal and AntiProtozoal medication used for certain types of infections.

Amphotericin B Inhalation Powder (ABIP) has been granted orphan medicinal product designation by the European Commission for the prevention of pulmonary infections. The designation is based on a recommendation from the Committee for Orphan Medicinal Products (COMP) of the European Medicines Agency (EMEA), 2006. In the U.S., the FDA granted Fast Track designation and Orphan Drug designation for the prevention of pulmonary fungal infections by inhalation treatment.

Administered by IV, instillation, inhalation, topically in the treatment of superficial monilial infections and by nasal spray in the prophylaxis of aspergillosis in immunocompromised patients. Amphotec is Amphotericin B Cholesterol Sulfate Complex for Injection, a liposomal product for IV adminitration. Upon reconstitution, Amphotec forms a colloidal dispersion of microscopic disc-shaped particles. Label: to be administered intravenously or topically. Used in Leishmaniasis in animals.
